LEDA Scholars

The LEDA admissions process is a highly competitive but rewarding experience for those students seeking opportunities to develop and improve their leadership skills. Though our application is not the only part of the admissions process, it is an integral component from which we determine your potential as a LEDA Scholar. Please take your time with each section and make sure all material is submitted in a timely fashion.

LEDA ScholarsGuidance counselors provide the LEDA Scholars Program with exceptional nominees each year. These counselors devote long hours to providing opportunities beyond secondary schooling for all of their students. LEDA seeks to develop and foster relationships with these counselors in order to discover untapped potential in places often overlooked by many colleges and universities.

As a counselor, you have the chance to nominate the next LEDA Scholar from your community. To do so, please complete the Nomination and Academic Forms found in Application Part 1. As a public school guidance counselor, you can select students you believe would be great additions to the LEDA Scholars program or help a student already interested in the program.

We also strongly encourage you to review the Guidance Counselor Information Packet. It contains helpful information about our eligibility guidelines, mission and programs, and statements of support.

As a student, you have the opportunity to participate in a life-changing opportunity to enrich your leadership and critical thinking skills. LEDA will build on your high school experience by helping you develop:

  • Critical reading, writing, research, and numerical skills
  • The ability to organize information and to study in an efficient way
  • The critical thinking skills required to analyze, synthesize, interpret, and critique ideas and information
As a LEDA Scholar you will also learn how:
  • To organize and manage your time
  • To articulate and support your own ideas and opinions and to formulate your own questions in class discussion and written work
  • To feel confident—even as you compete with many other equally qualified students

All materials should be returned by mail or email to:
