Mission
Working in conjunction with their high schools, Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse
America (LEDA) seeks to identify promising high school juniors whose socio-economic, racial, and/or ethnic background is currently under-represented at the nation's top
colleges and universities. LEDA's goal is to guide these students through the college
application process, prepare them for the college experience and to position them for
leadership in the private and public sectors.
Description
- LEDA is a not-for-profit organization incorporated by New York State in 2003.
- LEDA seeks to address inequality of educational opportunity based on socio-economic status and/or race.
- LEDA programs are intended to serve students with the highest potential.
- LEDA seeks to increase the number of black, Latino/Hispanic, and Native American students,
and of low-income students of all races, who are viable candidates for admission
to the nation's most selective colleges and universities.
- By providing powerful supplementary academic intervention to such students, LEDA seeks to facilitate their admission to and success at these institutions of higher education.
- LEDA programs create achievement-oriented, goal-directed student communities
whose members support one another's aspirations.
